ULSTER CONTROL LINE CHAMPIONSHIPS 2018.
T0MMY PATTON PARK, BELFAST. 9TH JUNE.
For once the weather forecast was good for our competition, with generally favourable flying conditions, except for a bit a breeze that was to last most of the day.
There was five entrants in F2B, with Kevin Barry travelling the furthest from Cork, Ivan Bolton and Stu Holland coming from Dublin.
Mitchell Shaw was our judge in both F2B and Classic.
With the weather being so favourable F2B got started as soon as everyone had their practise flight.
The competition was very close with first round scores putting Maurice just 11 points ahead of Peter, Ivan lead Stu at this stage, with Kevin in fifth place, having problems with his electric powered model.
The second and third rounds saw Maurice consolidating his lead with the highest score of the day in the third round, Stu came though with two improved flights to take second place. Peter was third and Ivan fourth, Kevin was fifth, his model failing to improve on a good second round score
Classic was a two round competition, again flown in good conditions, the wind starting to back off. Maurice taking the honours, with Ivan in second place, Stu was third, Kevin unfortunately was forth, only flying one round due to engine problems.
Our thanks for all coming along, especially those who travelled so far to make the day worthwhile, and the judge for his essential contribution.
Peter Bradshaw.
